This renovation of a 45 m² apartment originally from the 18th century in the city of Lisbon, brought a timeless and contemporary interior design, and incorporated the architectural lines of the beautiful building in the Portuguese capital.

At the client's request, feng shui was implemented in the project for a better flow of energies in the property. Wood was already a strong existing element of the space, which had a beautiful floor and windows in the material. With that in mind, the new project sought to further enhance these features, applying neutral colors and language with oriental traces.

The main brief was to transform the look of the apartment in a way that added value to the property, without removing the existing walls and not changing the hydraulic equipment.

Aimed at a single person who works from home and travels most of the time, the project transformed the dining table space into the main social environment, with space to work and receive guests for meals, while keeping the privacy of the bedroom through a panel in joinery designed especially for the project.

Natural light is a strong point of the property. We opted for stage lighting in order to enhance specific elements of furniture and decoration.

All the woodwork was designed by Arthur de Macedo and produced by the Portuguese wood designer João Maria.

In the kitchen, the change of the furniture provided more space for food preparation, while also providing more comfort for this space and for the entrance hall. The TV room was made into a closed environment in order to provide a better acoustic comfort for the Apartment.

Following feng shui, the color palette in all spaces is in pastel tones, conveying naturalness to the environments.

As it is an 18th century building, with Pombalina architecture (typical Portuguese construction of old times), any removal of the wall, alteration and/or creation of electric hydraulic elements becomes a critical and meticulous work.
